Château Patache d'Aux is a mythic Cru Bourgeois of the Northern Médoc for 300 years. A dry and sunny 2019 vintage giving a dense and structured wine but also long, with great freshness, characteristic of Cabernets on clay-limestone. 2019 is certainly the vintage that most expresses the purity of the Northern Médoc terroir of Château Patache d'Aux.

Clay-limestone soil, alluvial gravels.

Vinification
Vinified in temperature-controlled uncoated concrete vats. Gentle extraction (mostly sulfur free punching downs) and short vatting period of less than 4 weeks in average in order to moderate the extraction important tannic potential.
Aging
80% of the wine aged in barrels of 225 and 400L during 12 months. 1/3 in new barrels, 1/3 in one-wine barrels and 1/3 in two-wine barrels. 20% of total volume aged in uncoated concrete tanks.

Château Patache d’Aux is located in one of Bordeaux’s northernmost vineyards, 30 kilometers from the Atlantic Ocean and 10 kilometers from the Gironde estuary. The vineyard enjoys an oceanic climate. The 63-hectare estate is composed of three distinct terroirs.

Bordeaux A unique surface-level limestone slab on the “Begadan” plateau and, deeper limestone clays and Garonne gravels in the area of Saint-Christoly. A pure expression of the Médoc terroir, oceanic and calcareous, surprisingly fresh.
